If you’re looking for a cheap maple jumbo… I purchased my EJ200ce at a local Sam Ash. It’s a beautiful instrument. I’m really impressed with Epiphone–I have three others–a Epiphone Inspired by John Lennon Casino Hollowbody Electric Guitar Vintage Sunburst 886830740558 I bought two years ago that has quickly become my favorite electric, a , that is my second favorite, and a that I bought for my son. I can say their electrics, once they’ve been setup, are comparable to some expensive electrics I’ve owned. I like them better than my and Telecasters I’ve owned, as well as a Rickenbacker 360 I had for a…

Epiphone EJ200 ce The setup of this guitar was very good right out of the box, with exception to the stock strings.I immediately replaced them with D’Addario Light guage. The action is very good and by that I mean you can barely slide a quarter between the strings and the 12th fret. There is no buzzing and all strings sound clean and crisp on all of the frets. The top is solid wood. You can tell by the wood grain at the edge of the sound hole. The back and sides are laminate. The neck is solid and straight and feels similar to a Les Paul in terms of width and thickness. The binding is well done all around but the frets were not dressed very well. The frets edges feel a bit too sharp to my touch. The tuners are nice and smooth (Grovers). The guitar came with good intonation and respectable sustain. The onboard electronic tuner works very well. Unplugged the lows are warm and rich while the highs are bright and clean. It isn’t as loud unplugged as I thought it…

Solid top for 2012, not laminated While the description of this guitar shows a “select” spruce top, as of 2012 this guitar has a solid spruce top. I just received mine and I can assure you that the top is one solid piece and not laminate. The action was surprisingly low for a guitar straight from the factory. In fact, after tuning it (and I could see it was tested as the tuning was dropped just a little for shipping) I felt no need to set it up at all! In fact the strings on it look great, I know, I know, it is a new guitar, and one of the first things you should do is replace the strings and then set it up, adjust the bridge height, make sure the neck is aligned… But I did not have to do any of that. I just tuned it up and started playing, and it sounds great.Maybe it is the fact that the newer models have the solid top that the sound is better than I have heard before, and have heard of in reviews. What I can say is that this guitar has great tone and feels easy to play. With a non-gripping guitar…
